History
How GAMSTOP Works
UK residents who wish to use the service provide details online to GAMSTOP. They select a minimum period for self-exclusion and then their identity is verified, which only takes a few minutes.
The periods available are a minimum duration of six months, one year or five years. This is in line with current regulatory requirements set out by the Gambling Commission. During the selected minimum duration, they cannot remove their self-exclusion. Once the minimum duration has elapsed, the self-exclusion remains in place unless the person excluded calls GAMSTOP to ask for it to be removed and goes through the relevant process.
Once someone has registered with GAMSTOP, they are given an account which they can sign in to and update their details (email addresses, mobile numbers and postal addresses).
All British-licensed online gambling operators are required to integrate with GAMSTOP and check if their customers are self-excluded with GAMSTOP.
